Synopsis:   The Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) must be proficient in areas related to medical, therapeutic and nutritional needs of eating disorders with an emphasis on counseling and ethics using teamwork and collaboration. This session guides the participant through the  most up-to-date educational  and practice requirements to become a specialist including the process of working with an approved supervisor, as well as changes to the equivalency route and CDR’s Continuing Professional Education Units.

1. Understand the requirements to become certified as a specialist in eating disorders
2. Explain the supervisory process as it relates to nutrition counseling for eating disorders
3. Describe the difference between the two routes to certification
4. Describe the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) changes to (CPE) hours obtained by receiving and maintaining the iaedp™ Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietetian credential

Speaker Biography: 

Beth Harrell has over 20 years of experience working in all settings of eating disorders care, currently in a full multidisciplinary outpatient and medical stabilization eating disorders center.  Perhaps more important than her work experience is her heart for excellence in education, training, and recognition for practitioners who treat these complex disorders.  She is an iaedp™ Approved Supervisor and enjoys the energy that is generated from new practitioners who continually grow through the process.  Her long history of teaching includes directing a dietetic internship, teaching nutrition courses in the college setting, and training dietetic interns in eating disorders at the clinic level. She is a speaker for local, regional and national events and meets with other specialists on a regular basis to stay abreast of best practices and clinical challenges.
